There are undeniable fabrications, styles, and colors that evoke feminity and romance: that color, Emerald Green – my new happy harmony hue. The fabric is organza and the color, emerald green.
The fabrication – organza. Little did I know there’s a difference between organdy and organza. According to my Fashion Design Directory – here’s the difference between the two textiles:
Organdy: A light, fine, white cotton fabric with a solid, translucent finish, often used for details, such as cuffs and collars.
Organza: is a light sheer fabric initially made from silk. The modernized version of the material created not only with silk but polyester or nylon making dramatics shapes. The Zara organza Trench Coat I’m wearing is polyester.
The see-through Organza, derived from another material, known as Organzine, made from durable fibers of silk twisted into strands. There are many varieties within the Organza fabric, depending upon colors, textures, and appearance of the material.
The word Organza came first into use during the Middle Ages. And it is eventually integrated into French and Italian languages as the words organsin and organzano, respectively.
Now let’s talk about the color, emerald green. Since 2000, the Pantone Color Institute declares a particular color, Color of the Year. Earlier this year, I participated in the Magnificient Eight blogger collaboration wearing green, And way back in 2013, a post when Emerald Green, declared Pantone Color of the Year.
While on the Lancaster City Steinman Park photo shoot location, I saw the effects of the impactful bright jewel tone color. The energy of the hue elevated my mood to one of prancing and dancing. It was sheer magic in the not so parklike atmosphere.
In the spirit of Christian Dior, the haute couture French designer incorporated the elegance of organza into his many collections. Even today, the Dior successors continue to fancy organza.
Since becoming a blogger in 2013, I’ve learned to adopt colors I’ve rarely worn. Last year I re-discovered red. And now, emerald color. If nothing else, the fashion inspiration to step out of the proverbial box.
