“Where there is no vision, people perish….”

Do you ever dream or have aspirations to land that perfect job or accomplish a special task?

Over the last four years, I watched someone dear to me, not only land the perfect job in the midst of a sour economy and high unemployment rate but someone that set-up steps to accomplish this position by writing down her vision. I was inspired by the steps she took to land that perfect job.

I am speaking of my daughter, Channing.  She graduated from college in 2009 with a degree with Broadcast Journalism.  Unfortunately, she was unable to secure a suitable job in the small town where we live.

The journey begins with the creation of her blog, Channinginthecity.com- A style blog sparked by one writer’s journey to finding a job in New York City.

The quote above is a verse from Proverbs, that says, “Where there is no vision, people perish…”
Channing took the time to examine herself for personal/ professional goals and created a vision board.

“Vision boards put goals in your subconscious mind, where they steer your everyday choices toward making the vision happen.”

Fast forward to 2013. Countless trips by train to New York City, endless interviews with no response, finally “You”re hired.” She starts next week as an editorial assistant for a major lifestyle media company.

The 5 Steps to Achieve Vision:

1. Write Vision

2.  Create Board (gather key words, pictures and photos that represent goals.

3.  Steps to Achieve Vision Goal (blog, opportunities to write as freelancer etc).

4.  Chart Growth

5.  Be Patient and True to Dream

I was inspired to create my own vision board that includes goals like starting this blog. This is my first step, the hardest part is getting started.
